(1998) Bombs Away!

(1998) Dry Bones cartoon: Nuclear Proliferation.
I am writing this on May 31, 2007.

Back on May 28, 1998, Pakistan exploded five underground nuclear devices in response to India's nuclear tests two weeks earlier. Today's "Golden Oldie" was published four days after that nuclear test of Pakistan's "Islamic Bomb".

I was trying to step back and take an overview of what was happening globally in the struggle to deal with the spread of nuclear weapons. I could think of no better way to show this overview than by drawing the cartoon from a safe "off-planet" vantage point.
